Week Ahead | Draghi Under Pressure

Monday

The day will start with reports from Japan on Merchandise Trade Balance which is a measure of balance amount between import and export in Japan. Imports and Exports reports from Japan will consist of transactions in goods and services from non-residents to residents.

The day will end with the speech by ECB President, Mr. Mario Draghi in the evening. Press, Investors will be looking at how Euro Zone will react in terms of Strong US Dollar Index posts last week, which led EUR/AED to slide to 3.89.

Tuesday

The day is light in terms of economic data. However investors will be looking forward as to what RBA Assistant Governor Kent has to say about the current economic situation in Australia. Australian dollar continued falling against its US counterpart last week and AUD/AED has slid to 2.699 from 2.782 during past week due to strong US dollar index posts.

Wednesday

Today is a major day in terms of top tier data coming from Euro Zone and USA. Germany and Euro Zone will release reports on Markit PMI composit, Markit service PMI and Markit manufacturing PMI for the month of Nov. These data indicates an overview condition of sales, employment, and their outlook. Mid-day Euro zone will be releasing its financial stability review. This provides an overview of the possible sources of risk and vulnerability to financial stability in the Euro zone.

Early evening US will release key reports such as Continuing jobless claims and initial claims which gives an insight on job market of US. Both reports provides a measure of strength in the US labor market. These reports will be followed by Durable goods orders, Durable goods orders ex transportation, Housing price index, New Home sales and Markit Manufacturing PMI reports from US. These reports indicate large investments made in USA, thus these reports are sensitive to the US economic situation.

The day will end with US FOMC minutes report that reviews the economic and financial condition of United States and determines the appropriate stance of monetary policy and assesses the risks to its long-run goals of price stability and sustainable economic growth.

Thursday

In the morning, Germany will be releasing its GFK consumer confidence survey report that measures the level of consumer confidence in economic activity. This will be followed by Gross domestic product reports that measures the total value of all goods and services produced by Germany. The GDP is considered as a broad measure of the German economic activity and health.

Mid-day Germany will be releasing two key reports. IFO Business climate, Current assessment & Expectations are indicators of current conditions and business expectations in Germany. This presents an assessment of the business situation and short-term planning.

Friday

The day will start with reports from New Zealand on Trade balance, Exports and Imports. This is a measure of balance amount between import and export in New Zealand. Mid-day UK will release Gross Domestic product reports. This is measure of the total value of all goods and services produced by the UK.

The day will end with reports from USA on Markit PMI Composite & Markit Services PMI. This captures business conditions in the services sector in USA.
