Week Ahead | US Jobs Report in focus

03rd April to 07th April 2017

Monday

  • AUD –Retail Sales S.a
  • EUR –Markit Manufacturing PMI,Unemployment report, Producer Price Index
  • USD –Markit Manufacturing PMI ,ISM Manufacturing PMI ,ISM Prices Paid

Monday will be packed with important reports from Australia, Euro zone and US. Early morning Australia will release the Retail sales report which is a survey of goods sold by retailers

From Euro zone the Manufacturing Purchasing Managers Index will be released which captures the business conditions in the manufacturing sector. This will be followed by Unemployment report and Producer Price Index.

Latter half of the day will be full of data from US. First up will be Markit Manufacturing PMI which is an indicator of business conditions and the overall economic condition in the United States. This will be followed by ISM Manufacturing Index which shows business conditions in the US manufacturing sector. Day will end with ISM Prices Paid which shows into account expectations for future production.

Tuesday

  • AUD RBA interest rate Decision & RBA rate Statement

A rather quite day as only Interest rate decision and rate statement from Australia will be there. RBA Interest Rate Decision will be announced by theReserve Bank of Australia and RBA rate Statement Decisions regarding this interest rate will be announced.

Wednesday

  • EUR Non-Monitory Policy’s ECB Meeting
  • JPY Bank of Japan Governor Kuroda Speech
  • USD FOMC minutes

 

Three Major reports will be released from Euro zone, Japan and US. The European Central Bank (ECB) is scheduled to have its Non-Monitory Policy’s ECB Meeting. Later in the morning, Bank of Japan Governor Haruhiko  Kuroda will hold a press conference about monetary policies in Tokyo.

From US, FOMC minutes report will be released which reviews economic and financial conditions, determines the appropriate stance of monetary policy and assesses the risks to its long-run goals of price stability and sustainable economic growth.

Thursday

  • EUR ECB Monetary Policy Meeting 
  • USD Trump-Xi Jinping Meeting

Early morning ECB monetary policy meeting Accounts will be released, which contains an overview of financial market, economic and monetary developments. This will be followed by a summary of the discussion from euro zone.

From USA, the biggest news will be Chinese President, Xi Jinping’s meeting with the US President, Donald Trump. It will be interesting to see the outcome of the meeting for both China and US.

Friday

  • USD Nonfarm Payrolls & Unemployment rate
  • CAD Net Change in Employment & Unemployment rate

The busiest day of the week as US will release the jobs report which should move the market heavily.  The nonfarm payrolls released by the US presents the number of new jobs created during the previous month and The Unemployment Rate released is a percentage that surges from dividing the number of unemployed workers by the total civilian labor force.

Later on, Canada will release their jobs reports. First will be Net Change in Employment which measures the change in the number of employed people in Canada. This will be followed by Unemployment Rate which measures the number of unemployed workers divided by the total civilian labor force.
